MGA welcomed Ghanaian delegation with the goal of supporting Ghana’s lottery regulation

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has received an official delegation of members from Ghana at its premises in Smart City.

H.E. Barbara Akoukor Benisa, the High Commissioner of Ghana to Malta, as well as a group from the Ghana National Lottery Authority were present for the meeting. During the meeting, the MGA was given an overview of the Ghanaian lottery’s performance, difficulties, and potential modifications in the future.

In exchange, the delegation was informed through an overview of what the MGA regulates and how, with an emphasis on responsible gaming measures. The MGA also elaborated on the structure of gaming taxation in Malta and how the 2018 law update was executed to ensure the Authority was prepared to regulate in the next years.

The two organisations also discussed prospective knowledge-sharing activities and how the Ghana National Lottery Authority could learn from Malta’s experience in making required changes in a sustainable manner while striking a balance between regulatory aims and the demands of this sector.

Kinga Warda, Chief Officer for Policy and International Affairs stated “We welcome such opportunities for collaboration and knowledge-sharing initiatives with other regulators and industry stakeholders,” Ms. Warda said.

“Increased collaboration results in greater efficacy in supervising a safe and responsible gaming environment across the board.”

The meeting with the Ghanaian delegation provided an excellent forum for the exchange of insightful opinions on the lottery industries, regulatory frameworks, and difficulties that both jurisdictions face, according to Warda. This opened up possibilities for future cooperation. Following this meet-up, the parties agreed to keep in touch and organise specialised seminars to aid Ghana’s National Lottery Authority in planning and implementing the necessary reforms to the modern lottery sector’s regulatory framework.
